Vanessa Bryant & Daughter Natalia Block Kobe & Gigi Fan Pages: We Have To Do This For Our Own Healing
After almost five months since the tragic and untimely passing of NBA Legend Kobe Bryant and 13-year-old daughter Gianna Bryant, wife Vanessa and daughter Natalia are still dealing with the loss of their family members.
In a recent post on Instagram, Vanessa Bryant announced the decision to block specific accounts to help her move forward with healing from her loss. In the short post on her IG story, Vanessa expresses her gratitude and appreciation to the growing Kobe and Gianna, affectionately nicknamed Gigi fan pages on the social media site. However, the 38-year-old mother of Kobe’s surviving three daughters explains the purpose behind her and daughter Natalia’s decision to block the fan pages from their accounts. She writes:
“Thx so much for all the [heart emoji] @Nataliabryant and I have unfortunately had to block fan pages because it’s been really hard to go online and constantly see pics of our beloved Gigi and Kobe under every single square of our explore page. Blocking the fan pages has helped change the algorithm. We [insert heart emoji] you all but please understand that we had to do this for our own healing not because we don’t appreciate your . xo.”
Vanessa Bryant later shares a repost from Natalia’s IG story, reiterating her mother’s statement and sharing that the fan pages, although appreciated, are limiting her ability to cope with the loss of her father and little sister, Gianna. Natalia writes:
“Thank you so much for all the love and support. Many of you may have noticed the recent switch to a private account. My mom and I have had to unfortunately block fan pages because they keep reposting our pics. This makes it 10x harder to deal with our loss. We hope that people understand that although the fan pages have good intentions, they make moving forward harder since they are constant reminders. Blocking the accounts have helped the algorithm but we can not go public until the fan pages stop. We love all of your sweet intentions and we hope you understand. Always, Natalia”
Earlier this month, Vanessa Bryant remembered Gigi, on what would have been her eighth-grade graduation. The Instagram post featured Gianna’s name surrounded by white flowers, with the caption,
“Congratulations on your 8th grade graduation Gigi. I love you forever and always. I’m so proud of you. Mommy #classof2020.”
Despite the difficulties of moving forward with the loss of her husband and daughter, Vanessa Bryant is still pushing onward with her wrongful death lawsuit against the estate of the pilot (Ara Zobayan) and the helicopter company, who employed him. According to recent reports, while accusing the company of alleged negligence that contributed to the fatal crash, the lawsuit suggests that Kobe’s future earnings would have equaled
It has also been reported that Vanessa is also looking for substantial compensation. Stating that as a result of the deaths of her husband and child, she
“seeks economic damages, non-economic damages, prejudgment interest, punitive damages, and other relief as the Court deems just and proper.”
Kobe Bryant, daughter Gianni Bryant and seven other passengers, including the pilot tragically, lost their lives when the helicopter they were on took a fatal plunge in Calabasas, California. The two were reportedly traveling to Gianna’s basketball game when the crash took place. Kobe Bryant was 41.
