Rep. Ilhan Omar denied in an interview she is separated from her husband or dating anyone else despite bombshell allegations made in court papers that she’s the other woman in a Washington, DC, couple’s marriage.
The freshman congresswoman was accused Tuesday of carrying on short extra-marital affair with Dr. Beth Mynett’s politico husband, according to a divorce filing exclusively obtained by The Post.
The 37-year-old Minnesota representative shut down inquiries into her private love life in an interview with news station WCCO.
When asked whether she is separated from her husband and dating anyone, Omar declared: “No, I am not.”
“I have no interest in allowing the conversation about my personal life to continue and so I have no desire to discuss it,” Omar told the outlet.
In a court filing, Beth Mynett claimed that her husband told her in April that he was having an affair with the Somali-born Omar. Her husband, Tim Mynett, was a consultant with Ilhan Omar’s campaign through his work with consultancy firm E. Street Group.
His wife has alleged that his consulting services extended past the job description, including frequent travel with the congresswoman.
“Defendant’s more recent travel and long work hours now appear to be more related to his affair with Rep. Omar than with his actual work commitments,” the court papers state.
Omar’s allegedly mysterious love life has been the subject of controversy a few times before. She made headlines for reportedly filing joint tax returns in 2014 and 2015 with current husband Ahmed Abdisalan Hirsi, though she was still married to someone else.
The Democrat, however, insisted Tuesday that she was unfazed by the questions surrounding her personal life.
“I know who I am. The people who I love know who I am and what I care about,” Omar told WCCO. “I have three beautiful little children and a family to care for, so for me, my focus is doing the work that I feel I was destined to do.”
